What Pradosha Means
The Sanskrit word pradosha is formed from pra (before) and dosha (darkness). It names the first part of night, the sandhya when the sun has begun to leave and lamps are lit. Tradition places it about one and a half hours before sunset through the same span after sunset. Puranic accounts say the gods gather then, and that Shiva, pleased, grants what sincere worship asks.
